Washington Junior Golf Association
Read the “Things to know before registering” below for additional tips.
The Washington Junior Golf Association (WJGA) is a pivotal platform dedicated to fostering the growth and development of young golfers in Washington State. Established with the mission to introduce the game of golf to juniors, the WJGA not only promotes the sport as a healthy outdoor activity but also emphasizes the values of sportsmanship, discipline, and integrity. The association organizes a variety of tournaments and events throughout the year, offering a competitive yet friendly environment for young golfers to hone their skills, compete, and learn valuable life lessons.
Membership in the WJGA is open to boys and girls of all skill levels, aged 8-18. The association provides a structured program that guides players from introductory levels to more advanced competitions, paving the way for those looking to compete at higher levels, including collegiate golf. Through its commitment to excellence and development, the WJGA plays a crucial role in nurturing the next generation of golf talent in Washington State.
The WJGA's events are designed not only to challenge the young golfers but also to provide a supportive community where they can forge friendships and build networks. With a focus on fair play and respect for the game, the association instills in its members the importance of ethical behavior on and off the course.

Things to know before registering
The WJGA is for junior players between 8 and 18 as of August 1st. They must also meet certain scoring guidelines as follows:
Player’s score from their first tournament will be used to evaluate their skill level based on the WJGA Scoring Guidelines.
WJGA members must be residents of Washington State, Northeast Oregon or parts of the Idaho Panhandle during the summer season and must be either a US Citizen or non-citizen who has a permanent resident status. Find which district your junior golfer is in.
Scoring Based Entry - A player’s performance from the previous season will affect acceptance into WJGA’s spring tournament series.
The Washington Junior Golf Association has been around for a number of years. The WJGA tournaments are some of the most sought after tournaments for junior golfers in Washington State.
Of all the junior golf programs in the PNW, the WJGA is one of the more competitive.
Your junior golfer is expected to conduct themselves in a respectful manner.
Know many of the basic rules of golf (as there are no caddies allowed in the tournaments).
Proper golf etiquette is also expected with no coaching during the round.
The Gallery Rules can be found on the WJGA website for additional information.
The sign up for the tournaments typically start the first weekday in March in the morning.
You will want to sign up for all of the tournaments that you can on this date as they will fill up very quickly, however, now with the implementation of the Scoring Based Entry it should be easier for exempt players to sign up for tournaments.
I would suggest that you determine which district your junior golfer will be playing in as well as which tournaments you would like to sign up for before the registration date.
There are six districts throughout the state and your home course (not your home address) determines which district you will play in.
If your junior golfer is 13 or under, you will need to provide a volunteer/walking scorer for each tournament your junior plays in so plan your tournaments and work schedule accordingly.
Additional information on the WJGA can be found on their website at wjga.net.
